We're Partnering with Ekoenergetyka America to Build the Future of EV Travel

Posted Jan. 29, 2026

We’re excited to announce a strategic partnership with Ekoenergetyka America to deploy their high-power DC fast charging infrastructure integrated with renewable energy systems across our planned RechargePort sites throughout the East Coast.

As states like Massachusetts and its neighbors push aggressively toward zero-emission vehicle adoption, the region’s physical charging infrastructure has struggled to keep pace. Along major transit routes such as I-95, I-90 (the Massachusetts Turnpike), and I-91, EV drivers routinely encounter charger downtime caused by hardware failures, grid instability, and harsh weather conditions.

Compounding the issue, winter driving in the East Coast can reduce EV battery range by 20% to 40%, increasing the need for dense, reliable, high-speed charging locations.

We’re building RechargePort to directly address these challenges—designing infrastructure not for ideal conditions, but for the real world.

Designing for Real-World EV Reliability

Through this partnership, we will deploy Ekoenergetyka’s Axon Easy 180kW DC fast charging systems at our upcoming Massachusetts sites and future locations throughout New England and the East Coast. These chargers will be integrated into our proprietary Green Resilience energy architecture, which combines on-site solar, wind power, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

This hybrid renewable stack is designed to improve uptime, protect against grid volatility, and support carbon-neutral charging operations—even during peak demand or adverse weather conditions.

"We’re building for real-world reliability rather than optimal conditions," said Stephen Shirley, Founder and CEO of Off-Ramp RechargePort. "By pairing Ekoenergetyka’s fourteen years of field-proven technology with our integrated energy stack, we’re creating a durable, high-margin asset that protects both the driver and the investor."

“At Ekoenergetyka, we’re driven by a commitment to quality, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology to shape the future of e-mobility. Our partnership with Off-Ramp RechargePort is another milestone in our efforts to bring reliable solutions to fast charging infrastructure in the places they’re needed most,” said Stu Campbell, Head of Sales and Marketing, Ekoenergetyka America.

A New Premium Hospitality Experience for Travelers

Charging reliability is only one part of the journey. Every RechargePort site is designed as a destination—not a stopgap.

Our locations will feature climate-controlled lounges, high-speed connectivity, and curated food and beverage offerings that allow drivers to rest, work, or recharge themselves while their vehicles charge. In colder East Coast winters especially, these amenities transform charging time into productive, restorative time.

This hospitality-integrated model also creates a compelling opportunity for real estate partners and institutional investors seeking scalable, high-margin infrastructure aligned with the future of clean mobility.

Be Part of the EV Opportunity

We’re currently advancing two proof-of-concept sites in Massachusetts, with plans to expand throughout New England and along key East Coast corridors. This partnership with Ekoenergetyka America represents an important first milestone in our broader mission: to redefine long-distance EV travel by delivering charging infrastructure that is reliable, resilient, and genuinely human-centered.

We look forward to sharing more as our first RechargePort locations come online.

Why I founded Off-Ramp RechargePort

Posted Oct. 1, 2025

By Stephen Shirley, Founder and CEO

I built my career on the front lines of commercial property maintenance. I was the guy who made sure the lights stayed on, the systems stayed up, and the problems were solved before the customer knew they existed. In July 2024, my world took an unexpected turn when I underwent C5-C7 spinal fusion surgery. I anticipated a quick turnaround to the field, but by the following year, reality set in: The surgery was unsuccessful, and new complications in my lower lumbar meant my days of physical labor were over.

Still, my "fixer" mindset remained strong. I’ve always been a natural early adopter of EV tech, and throughout my career, I found ways to creatively deploy renewable energy systems to solve complex utility challenges. I believed that my knack for solving systemic problems, coupled with my hands-on experience in sustainable tech and customer service instincts, could help innovate the green/clean energy transformation.

As I looked at the current EV landscape, however, I didn't see a "green revolution"—I saw mostly a broken system. EV chargers that didn't work, a grid that couldn't cope, and a customer experience that felt cold, isolated, and unreliable. I saw the potential for a greener grid and a concept for making long-distance electric travel into a welcome, restorative experience.

The Premium, Green EV Solution

In 2025, I founded Off-Ramp RechargePort. Our goal is to build a grid-redundant, AI-managed, premium hospitality-first ecosystem. We aim to create restorative spaces through REIT-backed assets that provide premium amenities, clean energy, and emotional intelligence.

The transition to electric mobility is already upon us, but the world isn’t ready. In the Northeast US, specifically Massachusetts, there’s a "perfect storm" that makes Off-Ramp RechargePort the ideal charging solution for EV drivers right now.

First, the current energy grid wasn't built to handle the incredible demand for EVs today. By incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Off-Ramp solves the biggest challenge in the Northeast: an overtaxed grid. We store clean energy when it’s available and deliver it when the grid is struggling. This redundancy isn't just a feature; it’s a necessity for regional resilience.

Second, policy momentum is locked in. Massachusetts has mandated a shift toward 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035. This legislative "point of no return" is coupled with massive federal and state incentives for infrastructure, yet the actual rollout of reliable sites has lagged. Off-Ramp bridges the gap between ambitious climate policy and the practical reality of keeping vehicles on the road.

Third, EV drivers are no longer just "early adopters"—they are everyday commuters demanding better charging experiences. They need and want a trusted, reliable network built with intention.

The Uptime Standard: 99.9%

Off-Ramp isn’t just a charging station; it is a commitment to absolute reliability. While the industry average and federal (NEVI) standards often aim for a modest 97%, Off-Ramp RechargePort is engineered for a target uptime of 99.9%.

In my previous life maintaining high-stakes commercial properties, "almost working" was a failure. We carry that same relentless standard into our infrastructure. By utilizing an AI "caretaker" for predictive maintenance and real-time security, we ensure our ports are safe, functional, and optimized while others sit broken and abandoned.

The real differentiating factor for Off-Ramp is the premium hospitality-driven experience. We are moving away from the "gas station model" where charging is an inconvenience. Instead, our sites are designed as restorative sanctuaries. Imagine stepping into a climate-controlled lounge with high-speed Wi-Fi, premium refreshments, and wellness-focused amenities while your vehicle recovers its range. By treating the driver with the same care we treat the car, we turn a 30-minute chore into the best part of someone’s journey.

I spent many years of my life maintaining properties and systems for others. Now, I’m solving the next generation of infrastructure and energy management with Off-Ramp RechargePort, bringing to market a smart, sustainable sanctuary that will keep Northeast EV drivers moving no matter what—and enjoying the ride.
